AutomatePrint takes a print job from the customer's file to cut pieces. You upload artwork, check it, get your customer's sign-off, prepare the single piece (the "1-up"), lay copies out on sheets or rolls, and export print and cut files for your equipment. Along the way the app estimates times and costs, and you can quote new work from a customer's drawing. Your own systems can drive estimating, nesting, imposition and equipment through the API.
What each area does#
The sidebar groups the areas the way work flows through a shop.
| Area | What you do there | Who uses it |
|---|---|---|
| Approvals | Upload artwork, send proofs, collect comments and approvals from customers. | Customer service, prepress |
| Preflight | Check a PDF for missing bleed, low-resolution images, font problems and more before it reaches press. | Prepress |
| Imposition | Put artwork into a job, prepare each 1-up, and lay copies out on sheets or a roll. Export print and cut files. | Prepress, production planners |
| Estimating | Trace parts over a customer's drawing, pick materials and get a live quote with nesting and cut time. | Estimators, sales |
| Equipment | Describe your printers and cutting machines, so times, costs and cut files match your shop. | Production managers |
| Team | Invite people, set their roles, and (for administrators) manage the subscription. | Administrators |
Inside Imposition, each artwork opens in the 1-up editor, where you map the dieline, add bleed, check separations and preflight, and see a 3D preview of the finished piece.
People outside your team take part too, without an account:
- Customers open a proof link to review artwork, comment and approve.
- Customers or sales staff open an estimating designer link to draw the parts of a job on their own drawing.
- Integrators connect your web shop or MIS to the API with an API key.
How your work is organised#
Everything you create belongs to a team: artwork, proofs, jobs, estimates, materials and equipment. Every member of the team sees the same data, and the team's short ID is part of every app address. You can belong to several teams and switch between them from the header. Read Teams, members and roles for roles and invitations.
Where to start#
- New here? Follow Your first job, step by step: seven steps, from uploading a file to building a quote. The team home page shows the same steps as a Get started checklist and ticks them off as you go.
- Learn the layout of the app in Finding your way around, and the keys that save time in Keyboard shortcuts.
- Set up your profile, two-factor authentication and API keys in Your account, 2FA and API keys.
- Lengths are stored precisely and shown in the unit you pick: see Units and measurements.
- Each area has its own guide: How imposition works, Nesting, Estimating overview and Equipment overview.
- Words you don't know are in the glossary.
- Connecting another system? Start with the API overview.
