The centre of the workspace shows one layout at a time: the best one while a run is going, or the one you clicked in the Report. Its toolbar holds the sheet navigator, View and Edit, zoom, the artwork graphics switch and the Export menu.
Viewing#
Step through the sheets with the arrows or [ and ]. The label says what you are looking at: "2" for a sheet,
"Form 2 × 84" for a form printed 84 times, or "Plate 1 · run 1,835" for an offset plate. Artwork graphics (G)
switches between the artwork itself and plain outlines; outlines draw faster on big layouts. Strips show their slits as
dashed lines.
Identical true-shape sheet layouts appear as one form with a repeat count. For example, Form 1 × 42 followed by one different final sheet means 43 physical sheets. Your ordered quantities and total sheet count stay the same; the viewer and imposed PDF show each distinct form once. Different artwork, rotations or positions remain separate forms. Existing saved layouts keep their original forms; run the job again to get this grouping in a new result.
Badges next to the layout name warn about unplaced pieces and about a layout that is Out of date: run again. Preview says the layout on screen isn't the job's selected one, and Use this layout makes it so (see The live Solutions list). When ganging rules split the items, Colour by: Item / Group colours the pieces by item or by gang group.
The sheet thumbnails below the canvas let you jump straight to a sheet or plate. Artwork colours, quantities and split form counts are beside the artworks in the left sidebar. Open Production → Layout key for the canvas symbols and the current sheet's inks and group details (see The Production tab).
Editing by hand#
Press Edit (E) to move pieces yourself. Editing a run layout first makes an editable copy of it, which appears in
the Report with a pen icon; the run's own layout stays as it was. You can also make a copy without editing with
Save as editable in the Report.
In Edit mode:
- drag pieces to move them, or nudge them with the arrow keys (×10 with Shift);
Rturns the selection by +90°,Shift Rby −90°; drag the handle to turn freely (15° steps with Shift);Delunplaces a piece. Unplaced pieces are listed on the Parts tab; Place on sheet puts one back on the sheet you are looking at;⌘ZandShift ⌘Zundo and redo; Reset to original goes back to the run's layout.
When a form has several copies, moving a piece changes every printed copy of that form. Its repeat count stays fixed while editing; run again to plan a different set of forms.
Every change is saved on its own: the banner says Saving…, then Saved. If a save fails, Retry sends it again. If the same layout was changed in another tab, the banner asks you to Reload it first.
Checks on edited layouts#
Each saved edit is checked the way run layouts are: pieces that overlap, sit closer than the spacing, leave the printable area or cross a bed keep-out band are marked. The layout card shows a warning badge with the count, and the export menu warns "Some pieces overlap or sit too close" (it still exports, so you can decide).
Edits change what is cut: an N-up layout keeps its old knife program only until you move pieces (see The Production tab).
When edits can't be made#
- An out-of-date layout can't be edited: run again, then edit the new layout.
- Reset to original needs the run that made the layout. After a newer run it is gone, and the layout can only be kept as it is or deleted.
