Planning#
Why can't I type a start time?#
Because the times follow the order. You choose each machine's order and the Schedule works out the times from your hours, makeready and ready checks, which is what keeps two jobs from overlapping on one machine. To keep a step from starting before a certain time, pin it.
Why did a step move later?#
Something before it changed: the step before it on the machine ran over, the job's previous step finished later, downtime was added, or a ready check is still open. Every step's time is worked out again after each change, keeping the order. Started steps and the steps inside the time fence keep their machine and place, but can still start later.
Why is my job still in the tray?#
- It waits for a ready check: look in the tray's Waiting section and at the job's Ready checks tab.
- A step has no machine that can do it: the job panel says "No machine can do this step yet". Add one, or change the route.
- It is On hold: Release it.
- Place all ready leaves jobs with a failed check alone until the check passes.
What does ≈ mean?#
The step's time is an approximation, for example on another press than the job was imposed for. Hover it for the reason. See Machines and capabilities.
Why is the risk Unknown?#
The job has no due date, or a step on the way to its finish has only an approximate time. Give it a due date on the imposition job's Order card or its items' Due property.
Can two people plan at the same time?#
Yes. Each change is small and saved at once, and everyone's board updates within seconds. If the plan changed while you were looking at a preview, the preview asks you to look again before it applies anything.
Jobs and layouts#
I changed the layout after the job was scheduled#
If nothing has started, the steps are timed again from the new layout and keep their machines, order and pins. If something has started, nothing changes by itself: the job's panel shows a banner saying the layout changed after production started.
I chose another layout for the job#
The job keeps its place on the board and takes the new layout's steps and times. It doesn't go back to the tray.
I removed the layout, or deleted the imposition job#
If nothing has started, the job leaves the board (back to the tray, or cancelled when the imposition job is gone). If something has started, the job stays, marked, so its history isn't lost.
How do I schedule a reprint?#
Once a job is done, use Put on the schedule in the imposition job's Export menu and confirm Schedule it again as a reprint?: the same imposition job is scheduled again as a new job, and the done one keeps its history. A finished job isn't listed under Imposed, not on the schedule, so Add all never schedules it twice by mistake.
Does the Schedule change due dates or priorities?#
No. They belong to the imposition job (its Order card) and its items. Change them there and the Schedule follows.
How are two passes on an offset press handled?#
When a job needs two passes through the press, the drying time between them is planned as a wait after the print step. The press's time and the next step's start are right; the second pass isn't shown as its own bar.
The floor#
An operator ran a different job than planned#
That's fine: what happens on the floor is always recorded, and the plan follows. See The station.
What if a machine breaks?#
The operator taps Machine down and picks when it should be back. The machine's work moves later and planners are told. See The station.
Who can see and change the Schedule?#
Every team member can see the board, the phone view and the stations, and use the stations. Planning is open to every member unless an admin limits it (see Schedule settings). Machines, hours, routes, ready checks and settings are for team admins.
Planned: Later
Jobs that aren't imposed (such as bindery-only or outsourced work), added from the board's ⋯ menu with New job, and splitting an offset print step into one bar per pass.
