The Item tab changes the same artwork settings as the artwork inspector of the job workspace, without leaving the editor. Changes save at once and the workspace shows them when you go back. What each setting does for the nest is on Jobs and artwork.
A PDF or image you opened from Files is not in a job, so it has a File tab instead, with its version, pages, product and print-ready file (see Files and images).
In this job#
These settings belong to the artwork in this job: how many pieces, how the nest may turn them and which pages print.
- Quantity
- How many pieces the job needs.
- Rotation
- The angles the nest may turn the artwork to: the job's default, one of the presets, or Custom… with a list
of angles such as
0, 90(see Jobs and artwork). - Grain
- None, Horizontal or Vertical (see Jobs and artwork).
- Product
- Flat, Bound or Folded. It is kept with the artwork and doesn't change the nest.
- Front page and Back page
- Shown for files with two or more pages. The front page is the one nested and printed, and the one the editor works on: changing it reads the inks of that page (see Inks and line types). Leave Back page empty for none.
Size#
- Nest shape
- The die's size when there is a die, else the artwork's own size. It shows the die's size even when the job nests this artwork by another shape (its trim box, a custom size or a contour; see The die).
- Page
- The size of the page in the file.
- Nest bleed
- The artwork's own bleed, or Job default when it uses the job's. Generating bleed sets it to the bleed distance (see Bleed and the print-ready file).
This tab is the only one an image artwork can use in the editor today.
