Downloads and the screening report

Download single plates, a page or the whole job as a ZIP, and read the report of every setting, curve and file.

Once a job is Done, its plates are ready to download: one at a time, a page at a time, or all at once. Every job also has a report that records exactly what was made, for your records or for the plate room.

Download plates#

On the job page, each page card lists its plates with the separation, the file name, the screen, the compression, the file size and the ink coverage. Then:

  • the download button of a plate gets that TIFF;
  • Download page (.zip) gets every plate of that page;
  • Download all (.zip), at the top of the job page or in the job's row on the Screening page, gets the whole job.

The plate viewer's ⋯ menu has Download all (.zip) too, and Download this page (.zip) when the job has more than one page. Its Job tab lists the files of the page you are looking at.

What the ZIP holds#

A ZIP of the whole job is named after the job, such as Postcard_A.zip; a page's ZIP adds the page, such as Postcard_A_page-02.zip. Inside, one folder per page, named from its number and label, and the report:

Postcard_A/
  page-01_Page_1/
    Postcard_A_P01_Cyan.tif
    Postcard_A_P01_Magenta.tif
    Postcard_A_P01_Yellow.tif
    Postcard_A_P01_Black.tif
    Postcard_A_P01_PMS_185_C.tif
  report.json

The TIFFs are stored as they are, not compressed again: they are compressed already (see Output settings). A plate that was skipped because it was blank isn't in the ZIP (see Output settings).

The report#

Report in the job's ⋯ menu (or the viewer's) opens a printable page with:

  • the Source: the file name, or the imposition job, layout and layout revision, with the SHA-256 checksum of the pages that were screened;
  • In Files, for a PDF from Files or an upload saved there: the file's path and version, such as "Customers / Postcard A.pdf · v2", with a link to the file while the job keeps that version (see Sources: PDFs, Files and imposition sheets);
  • the Profile, the Resolution and extent, the Output (polarity, mirror, compression) and the Trap layer choice, with what printed;
  • the Ghostscript version that rendered the plates and the time the job took;
  • for every page, a table of its plates: the Screen asked for and the actual one, the Curve with its checksum (or "linear"), the File with its size in pixels, compression, bytes, photometric interpretation (MinIsWhite for positive, MinIsBlack for negative) and SHA-256, and the Ink coverage;
  • the Warnings the job had when it was screened.

Print prints it; report.json (done jobs) downloads the same record as JSON.

report.json#

The file is also in every ZIP. Its format is automateprint.screening-report/1, and it holds:

Key What it records
job The job's id, name, team, profile, who created it and when it was created, started and finished.
source The source kind, file name and SHA-256; for a PDF in Files, file with its path and version (and file_id and version_id); for imposition sheets, the job, layout, revision and input checksum.
pages Every page: number, label, size and boxes.
engine The Ghostscript version, the plates skipped as blank, and the trap layer state.
settings Every resolved setting, including each separation's screen and its composed curve chain with versions and checksums.
plates Every file: page, separation, path, bytes, SHA-256, size, resolution, compression, polarity, mirror, screen, coverage and ink zones.
warnings The warnings and notes of the job's checks.
timings The total seconds.

After a job expires#

When a job expires, its files are deleted but the record stays: the report page still shows the source (with its path and version in Files, no longer linked), the settings and every plate's file name, size and checksum (see Running a screening job). It has no report.json to download.
